Virgin on the unbelievable: Pickled Egg at The Lodge in Verbier

legs paraglide

Pickled Egg often gets invited on glamorous FAM trips, but thanks to my busy schedule and my three young boys, it’s not usually me that goes on them. However, when I received a call from Virgin asking if I’d like to spend a few days at Richard Branson’s Lodge in Verbier, my bags were packed before the conversation was over.

The Lodge didn’t disappoint: it is billed as Sir Richard Branson’s mountain retreat and, as you might imagine of such a man, it really is quite out of this world. It is spread over five floors, which you can move between using either wooden or wrought iron spiral staircases or a lift. Yes, a lift. There is an indoor pool, a steam room, a jacuzzi, chefs to cook you up a storm and much, much more.

Our hosts were magnificent, tending to our every need during the trip, even when I kicked back in the hot tub. While I relaxed and caught up on some emails, the staff made sure that my glass and bowl of olives never got anywhere near empty.

The stay wasn’t all about the Lodge though. As part of the trip, Virgin had a few special treats planned, one of which was paragliding. Over the Alps. Now, I’m not a fan of heights, so I was a bit nervous to say the least, but once I was up there it was spectacular. I don’t think there is a better way to see the mountains.

The Lodge is a truly incredible place for corporate entertaining, whether it’s rewarding staff or treating clients. Winter or summer, there is plenty to do and see that will take your breath away.
